Student Profile

We are fortunate to have graduate students from the University of South Florida participate in our FL-AIHA membership and conferences.  In order to support and promote those students graduating with an EHS related degree, we have provided a student profile page for them to post information about themselves.  If you are looking for new employees in an EHS related position, then take a moment and review these new, or soon to be, graduates!

Here is a list of our new graduate and current students:

Stephanie (Stephi) Pofahl - Recent Graduate

Stephanie (Stephi) Pofahl is an entry level industrial hygienist that has a graduate certificate in Assessing Chemical Toxicity. She worked at Ramboll Environmental as an intern assisting with indoor and outdoor air sampling, HVAC inspection, and report preparation. After many years of working in healthcare, within both the military and civilian sectors, she needed a change. While she was obtaining her graduate certificate, she stumbled on industrial hygiene. Stephi hopes that with her medical and industrial hygiene background, she can build on these skills and find a position in safety compliance or find a company to train her to perform air sampling. Stephi obtained her OSHA 10 in 2019 and COHC certification in 2022. Stephi believes that worker safety is the number one priority. Stephi obtained her B.S. in Biomedical Science with a focus in Biochemistry and Chemistry in 2010 from the University of South Florida (USF), graduate certificate in 2019 from USF, and graduated on August 5, 2023, with a MSPH in Occupational Exposure Science (industrial hygiene).

Fisher Morris- 2nd Year Student

Fisher Morris is a second-year master’s student at the University of South Florida studying Industrial Hygiene. He will be conducting his thesis on silica exposures in the pool construction industry and has a strong interest in indoor/outdoor air quality. In the Summer of 2023, Fisher interned with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions where he gained experience with a wide variety of hazards and learned about industrial hygiene from a governmental perspective.

Haylie Corcho- 2nd Year Student

Hello, my name is Haylie Corcho, and I am currently finishing up my first year in the Master of Science in Public Health program at USF with a concentration in Occupational Exposure Science with a plan to graduate in August 2024. I am also currently interning with OHC Environmental Engineering in Tampa, FL. I am looking forward to continuing my career in the Industrial Hygiene field and continuing to meet and work with everyone in the AIHA! Thank you!

Chase McDonald- 2nd Year Student

My name is Chase McDonald and I’m a graduate student at the University of South Florida. I’m currently entering my final year of my degree where I’m majoring in Occupational Exposure Science. I’m also just completed serving as the Summer Safety Intern at the Tillamook County Creamery Association out on the Oregon Coast. In this position I have focused on several projects including the development of a Lockout/Tagout program, an audit of the chemical management of the plant, and the completion of a Heat Stress study at one of their other sites. This position has been very informative and will help me further when I enter the professional world. I have entered this industry with the desire to learn more about the world of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene. My goal ultimately being to improve worker safety and make occupational environments that much less hazardous. On the personal side, I was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area where most of my family resides. Some of the hobbies I enjoy are attending sporting events, grabbing a craft beer, and going to the movies. I also really enjoy traveling and I have been to 46 states along the way. I look forward to my next AIHA conference and connecting with each and every one of you!

If you see any of the USF students at the conferences, stop and get to know them!
